By Ms. Susan - Sandra and I had just clicked on a movie, and had begun eating popcorn and enjoying some of Molly’s freshly baked cookies when I heard our dog bark at the back door. I didn’t think much
of it at the time, until she barked again WOOF WOOF. This time I heard crackling sounds, and figured it was just raccoons playing in the garbage bin again.
I got up off the couch to go investigate and as I got closer to the back door, I started to smell smoke, and when I opened the door I could see the building next door was ON FIRE!!! . . . Yikes!!
I quickly dialed the emergency number and right away I could hear sirens blazing. Within 5 minutes help was there, with hoses, hooks, and ladders - a whole brigade of Mighty Town
Firefighters. Thankfully everybody got out of the building safely, and the Mighty Town Fire Dept. quickly doused the flames. Their quick action, clear thinking, and bravery saved the day and kept the fire from spreading.
Seeing it first hand, I have a new appreciation of how tough fire fighting can be and I’m so thankful to Jake and his whole brigade for being just a phone call away and keeping us safe.
If you happen to see any firefighters out on the streets of Mighty Town, make sure to give them a pat on the back and tell them just how much you appreciate them. I think I'm going to bake them some cookies and drop them by the station.

Ms. Susan, I'm so glad that you and Sandra are safe. Why don't you come on down to the bakery this week and I'll make you up some special cookies and muffins - you can take them down to the Fire Station as a little "thank you" . . . sound good?
Thank you Molly, you’re so sweet. I think I’ll take you up on that offer, you’re the best!. The library closes early on Friday nights, so if it’s okay can I drop by around 5:30 this Friday evening? I know everyone at the Fire Station would love to taste your freshly baked cookies, thanks so much for offering.
