Adventure Log by Megan the Ranger: Boy oh boy, the search for the Lost Mummy is really getting into full swing. Tom and Ken seemed to be in great spirits when I met up with them just hours ago - especially now that I’ve outfitted their canoe with fresh supplies and an updated map.
You see, I’ve been interviewing lots of villagers lately and piecing together their stories about the Lost Mummy with legends I’ve read in books and I think I’ve zeroed in on a hot spot on the map – a good place to search, just 20 miles downstream. With the river running at 5 knots, it’ll take Tom and Ken numerous paddle hours to reach it, put it’s the best lead we’ve had in a while.
Ken’s especially good at reading the current and river colors. “Dark looking water is usually deeper” he told me “lighter colors indicate sand just below the surface”. I just hope they reach the spot by nightfall while they can still read the river.
On my way back to the truck I heard the call of the Little Tinamous - a beautiful bird that’s more often heard than seen.
Megan the Ranger, over and out for now, stay tuned for further updates.
