As most dolphins live in warm shallow waters, the vitality of this beautiful coral reef is integral to the local marine environment and helps sustain some of the dolphins favorite foods: mackerel, sardines and squid. “By taking underwater photos I can help measure the health of coral reefs” says Megan who has been studying dolphin habitat and dolphin behavior for over 5 years.
“Dolphins love to talk to each other using a variety of clicks and whistles” says Megan who observed lots of fun chatter today by a very playful mother and her baby dolphin. “They were quite lively today, jumping and splashing in the bow wave of our boat.” she said, “and I think playfulness is a good sign of health.”
