On Parade Day, folks enjoy the festivities without a care, and our Parade Marshals are there to make sure it stays that way. Large-scale productions require a full team of security, mounted officers, barricades, bull horns, stop signs, walkie-talkies – you name it. The parade is a huge undertaking, and requires planning and preparedness to stay orderly.
Officers Wade, Max and Dean cordon off the streets 24 hours before the big day, allowing people to "camp out" on the parade route overnight. Once the parade is underway, our officers and their horses are as much a part of the spectacle as the floats. Everybody loves to watch the beautiful, dutiful horses, as they weave their way between floats and crowds, keeping things peaceful on this day of celebration.
