“Gentlemen, start your engines.” Those are the words Ronnie the Kart Champ was born to hear. Chasing the ultimate adrenaline rush, he lives to hurtle around that track. Strap him into a go-kart and turn him loose, and he is in his element. With the pedal to the metal he leaves all the other kart racers in the dust. That’s because Ronnie knows there is much more to racing that just going fast and turning left. He’s all too aware that he must constantly push himself and his go-kart to the extreme to stay ahead of the pack.
When Ronnie clinched the MW Cup championship last year, some wondered whether he would be able to handle all the added pressure, the extra appearances, the increased attention – and he seems to have come through just fine.
However many accolades he receives, Ronnie is gracious in pointing out that much of his success is due in to the support he gets from his pit crew on Race Day. They keep his kart in tip-top shape and practice with him year-round; working through fuel strategies and keeping Ronnie aerobic enough to withstand the rigors of his chosen sport.
